Obituary for Mary Melanie "Melanie" Michalak
Mary ‘Melanie’ Michalak, age 65, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia.
She was born June 21, 1954 in Indiana, to Chester and Mary (Sztukowski) Sikora. Melanie is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Michalak and their youngest daughter Kristen; parents (Chester and Mary Sikora); and brothers (Martin and Sylvester Sikora). She leaves behind a daughter, Rebecca Powers (Matthew; grandchildren Samantha and Sawyer); siblings Peter (Janet), Rose (Thomas), Jim (Lucy), Margaret “Peggy” (Kent), Tom (Betty), Chester (Connie), Michael, Edward, and Joseph (Autumn).
In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations online at INOVA designated to the Heart and Vascular Institute; or mailed to INOVA Health Foundation, ATTN Gift Administration, 8110 Gatehouse Rd., Ste 200 East, Falls Church, VA 22042.
The viewing is scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2020 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Rd., Manassas, VA.
The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 18825 Fuller Heights Rd., Triangle, VA.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
