Obituary for Michael Vincent Lee

Michael Lee passed away peacefully at his home Friday, October 19th, 2018 at the age of 73.

Michael “Mike” Vincent Lee was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia on September 5, 1945 as the only child to parents Edward Earl and Elizabeth Zalokar Lee. Virginia remained his favorite place and home for his entire life. He was a 1963 graduate of Groveton High School in Alexandria and was a proud and dedicated alumnus of the College of William & Mary where he graduated in 1967 while majoring in business and member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

Mike was a dedicated employee and IT Project Manager for OSHA at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington DC for 30+ years. In his spare time, Mike was a certified real estate agent as well as a small business owner with Mike Sullivan, owning Hallmark and TCBY stores throughout the state of Virginia including Erin’s Hallmark in Reston.

Mike was an avid historian and enthusiast of Washington, DC and Virginia. Mike grew up attending Washington Senators games, was a loyal fan of all DC sports (in the good and bad) and was a lifetime Washington Redskins fan. Alongside his best friend and fellow alumnus, Mike Sullivan, he was a season ticket holder to William & Mary Tribe football games, and an annual contributor to the Tribe Club.
Mike was the most thoughtful, proud, dedicated, witty, sarcastic, creative, loving, and hard-working family man. He was also the life of the party making a fantastic martini and he could make anyone smile with his stories or by simply being in his presence.

He was highly regarded by many as a mentor, colleague, uncle, neighbor, friend, and “Daddy Lee”. But no role was more meaningful or important to him than being a father and grandfather as his family was the center of his world. He lovingly raised his three children in Reston, Virginia and was dedicated to them in every capacity, always present at travel soccer games, high school soccer, tennis matches, and ski trips. His favorite place to vacation, which became an annual tradition, was his summer trip to his OBX beach house "Tribe Pride" with the Sullivan family and many friends.

He is survived by his three children; Eric Lee (Kimberly), of Gainesville, VA, Kathleen Lee of Ashburn, VA, Erin Lee of Washington, DC. The light of his world were his four beautiful grandchildren; Tristan, Camden, Landon, and Emerson Lee. Mike spent many wonderful and happy years with his partner Dale Adams biking, dining, and exploring vacation destinations while residing in their beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware.

He is forever in our hearts – we love you Papa, Pops, Bubba Jr., BGD. LD.
