Obituary for Nancy Louise Berkley

Nancy Louise Berkley
Nancy Berkley, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister (as well as long-time wife and caring friend) passed from this life on Friday, July 17, 2020.

Private arrangements are being handled by Baker-Post Funeral Home, Manassas VA.
A private family Celebration of Nancy’s life will take place later.

Nancy was born in Holden (Logan County), West Virginia, in 1944. She graduated from Logan High School and later, as a scholarship recipient, attended Concord College in Athens, WV. She was married to Dean Berkley of Pence Springs, WV, and had two children.

Nancy pursued a career in education, teaching initially in various WV school systems and in Abingdon, VA. Upon moving to Northern VA, she taught many years (and retired from) the Stafford County school system.
Throughout her career, she was recognized for her outstanding accomplishments in her field and was beloved by her many students and peers.

Nancy most enjoyed activities and time spent with her daughters and grandchildren, as well as with her siblings and their extended families. She enjoyed cooking and baking, reading, tutoring, and the performing arts. Her love of nature was reflected in her amazing gift for gardening (flowers and plants), as well as an appreciation for birds and their beauty and song. Rounding out her interests, she was an avid Washington Nationals fan.

Nancy attended various Baptist and Methodist churches over the years, as well as services often at Bethel Lutheran Church in Manassas, VA, with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Comfort and Emma Elizabeth Preece Hall (both of Mingo County, WV); a brother, Eugene Hall (of Delbarton, WV), and a sister, Kathryn Hall Siford (of Gainesville, VA).

She is survived by her daughters: Andrea Berkley of Connecticut, and her children Alexandra Lawler and Ben Lawler; and Katrina Wikiera of Haymarket, VA, and her husband Patrick and children Holly Elizabeth and Amy Grace.

She is also survived by a brother, Don Hall of Terre Haute, IN; and sisters Sue Long of Columbus, Ohio, and Sharon Hall of Manassas, VA. In addition, survivors include a local niece, Dr. Kara Elizabeth Siford, and numerous other beloved nephews and nieces out of State.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
