Obituary for Nancy Lee Smith

Nancy Lee  Smith
Nancy Lee Smith, 81, of Manassas, VA, passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of Monday, November 9, 2020, after a long battle with cancer.

Nancy was born in New Salem, PA, on October 18, 1939. She was a graduate of Groveton High School, Alexandria, VA. She was married for 62 years to her high school sweetheart, Chester H. Smith, Jr. She was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend. She had been an active member in her church and community. Nancy taught Sunday school, volunteered with music camp, Mission Friends, and Girls in Action at Manassas Baptist Church. Nancy was also a substitute teacher in Prince William County for over 30 years. She enjoyed reading, sewing, crafting and traveling.

Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Chester; her son, Chris Smith and his wife, Carol; her daughter, Theresa Brookhart and her husband, Greg,; four grandchildren, Christopher Jr., and Allison Smith and Tyler and Emily Brookhart; her sister, Debra Fagan Wilson and her husband John, and her brother Donald Lynn Fagan.

In lieu of flowers, friends may make a memorial contribution to Manassas Baptist Church, The American Cancer Society or charity of their choice.

Family will receive friends on Monday November 16, 2020 from 10:30am to 11:30am in the Manassas Baptist Church 8730 Sudley Rd. Manassas, VA 20110. A funeral service will take place at 11:30 am with Rev. David Donahue officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Comfort Cemetery 6600 S. King Hwy. Alexandria, VA 22306.
