Obituary for Norborne Patrick Beville Jr.

Norborne Patrick Beville Jr.
Norborne Patrick Beville, Jr. was born February 11, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia. His parents were Norborne Patrick Beville, Sr. of Blackstone, Virginia, and Jesse Howard Harmon of Victoria, Virginia.

Education
Norb was a 1959 graduate of St. Stephens Episcopal School, Alexandria, a 1963 graduate of University of Richmond, and a 1968 graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law.

Military Service
Following in the footsteps of his father, he pursued service with the United States Army. Norb was accepted to Ranger School and graduated an Army Airborne Ranger. He then served in the United States Army, First Division. He attained the rank of First Lieutenant while serving in combat with an engineering unit in Vietnam.

Professional Career
He was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1968 and maintained a decades-long membership in the Virginia State Bar Association. He began his law practice as an associate with Owens, Underwood, and Bean. He then opened a joint practice with fellow Manassas lawyer Ronald Eakin.

Eventually, he established a solo practice located on Grant Avenue in Manassas.
While his practice was general law, his expertise was in litigation. In the 1980s, he held a county-wide appointed office representing the Commonwealth of Virginia for property condemnation issues.

Community Involvement
Norb held a life-long interest in politics. He held several terms as Chairman of the Prince William Democratic Party. He was a two-time candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates; he also ran for the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. He furthered his civic involvement through a subsequent leadership role in the Prince William Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of American Legion Post 158, where he chaired the Boys State and Girls State project for outstanding high school juniors. In addition, he was an active participant in VFW Post 7589, where he held the office of Commander from 1989 to 1991.

For most of his adult life, he attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Manassas, where he served on the vestry. He participated in Kiwanis and, in later years, attended meetings of the Manassas’s Mens Club.

Personal Life
He was a fan of Washington Nationals baseball, the Richmond Spiders, and the Virginia Cavaliers. He was an avid tennis player and a skilled bridge player. He enjoyed traveling to U.S. National Parks and visiting historical sights. Norb enjoyed maintaining the lawn at his home in Nokesville, and collecting rocks for a lengthy rock wall around the perimeter of the property.

He died on February 16, 2019 at the Prince William Medical Center while surrounded by family. He is survived by his two daughters, Lee and Kristin, as well as his grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on March 23 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be posted at www.bakerpostfh.com. Contributions will be donated to the University of Virginia, the University of Richmond, and Gettysburg College.
