Obituary for Paul Joseph Maginnis

Paul Joseph Maginnis
On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, Paul Joseph Maginnis, loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend passed away at the age of 62.

Paul was born on the morning of May 31, 1960, in Washington DC to Lawrence and Nancy Maginnis. He spent his early years in Baltimore, MD, which is where his love for lacrosse began. He moved to Virginia at the age of 12 and graduated from Lake Braddock Secondary School in 1978. Paul, an outstanding lacrosse player, was instrumental in getting lacrosse into the public schools in Fairfax County. He and his brother, David, started the Annandale Boys Lacrosse Club, which was the first public lacrosse played in Fairfax County, VA. Following high school, he played lacrosse for Washington College and then attended the University of South Florida where he received his bachelor’s degree.

On April 28, 1990, he married Kim Harding and they raised two daughters, Lindsey and Kathryn. Paul loved his family deeply and unconditionally and was a constant source of guidance and support.

After college, Paul began his career at Interstate Van Lines where he worked for many years with the Morrissette family. He was later instrumental in building the Commercial Moving Division at Office Movers Inc. where he had an extended career. In 2012, Paul joined the team at JK Moving Services where he continued a highly successful career in commercial moving. He was a legend in his industry and a mentor to many over the last 35 years. He knew the value of relationships and how important they were in life.

Paul had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room. From golf trips, to concerts, to trips to the beach, Paul enjoyed every adventure to the fullest. He loved to be surrounded by friends and family and was always the life of the party. He never met a stranger in his life, volunteered for multiple causes, and was always the first person there if his friends or family needed assistance.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence. He is survived by his wife Kim, his two children, Lindsey and Kathryn, his mother Nancy, his brother David, his sisters Nora and Mary, and several cousins, nieces, and a nephew.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 28th, 2022, at Nativity Catholic Church (6400 Nativity Lane Burke, VA 22015) at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Springfield Country Club from 2:30pm – 5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Brain Tumor Society in honor of Paul Maginnis.
