Obituary for Robert Edward West
Robert “Bob” West, 76, of Manassas VA went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday March 16, 2021.
Bob was born in Hillsboro, VA where he attended Hillsboro Elementary School. The family moved to Arlington and he attended Washington Lee High School where he played baseball and football. Sports was his passion, coaching his son at little league baseball and soccer, attending many Redskins games, and later cheering on his grandson at his baseball, basketball, and football games. Bowling with friends in Friday night leagues was enjoyable and challenging. Visiting the races with his brother and friends and having cookouts and crab feasts with family and friends were just a few of his favorite past times. Bob was a very loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. A family man who would do anything for those he cared about. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Annie West, as well as brother, James William West, sisters Katherine Ivy and Janet West, and son-in-law, Bernard Milburn, Sr. He leaves to celebrate his life and cherish his memory his children, John West (Beth) and Tammi Milburn, two grandchildren, Erica and Jordan, two great grandchildren, Eli and Elaina, former spouse Betty, sisters, Helen Henke (Lloyd) and Donna Kidd (Dean) and brother, Ralph (Carolyn), nieces and nephews, extended family and friends including his best friends who were like brothers, Butch and Jimmy Bowers.
A graveside service will be held at the Hillsboro Cemetery, 37125 Charles Town Pike, Purcellville, VA, at 12 noon on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.
