BIOGRAPHY OF THE LATE MADAM ROSE ADZO AGBEMENU (A.K.A ROSIE) 1949-2022

After being sick for a while, Ms. Rose Agbemenu, 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at 4:30 PM, at her home in Manassas, Virginia, surrounded by her loved ones.
Rose was born March 21, 1949, to the late Mr. Leo and Mrs. Flora Agbemenu in Agbozume, then Gold Coast, a town in Ghana, West Africa. Rose was the third child of seven siblings. She attended Kotobabi 3 Girls School in Accra, Ghana. After graduating in 1966, she was employed by the Post and Telecommunication (P&T) in Accra, Ghana, where she worked for some years. She later met the late Mr. Noah Adapoe, and they wed in 1970. They were blessed with two children, Nelly Edem Adapoe and Metrova Dzifa Adapoe.
Rose and Noah, her then-husband, came to the US in 1974. Shortly after, Rose landed her first job as a cashier for High's Dairy Store and was later promoted to assistant manager for 13 years. While working full time, she attended Washington School for Secretaries of Washington DC in 1988. She graduated with a Certificate in Computer Terminal Operator. She was named "Most Outstanding Student" for possessing exceptional skills and personal qualities. With this Certificate, Rose landed her first corporate job in 1989. However, in 1993, she would have to move on from her corporate position as the company went out of business. For next 2 years, Rose worked various jobs from janitorial-cleaning daycares at night, working in mail rooms, and trying to follow her dreams of catering and wanting to someday open her own restaurant. While working and raising her two children, Rose was determined to continue her education. She eventually received her Certified Nursing Assistance License in 1995 and began working as a caregiver. She met many wonderful families while working as a CNA. Anytime we met a family member of her patients, they always shared how mom took great care of their loved one, and she was a part of their family. Caregiving was her passion until recent years; when the COVID Pandemic hit in 2020, it was around the same time she began her battle with Heriditary ATTR AMYLOIDOSIS.
Rose was passionate about God and attending church. When she wasn't reading the Bible or on the prayer lines, she was at church worshiping and praising her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Rose joined International Miracle Chapel in Burtonsville, Maryland, where she was an active member until her final days. She was a God-fearing woman and rarely missed going to church; even before she left the hospital this last time, she planned to go to church and give thanks to God as soon as she got home. But as faith will have it, it was never fulfilled.
Rose, Rosie, Daughter, Mommy, Sista, Auntie, Dadia, Cousin, Grandma, and friend. She always had a smile and enjoyed a good laugh. She loved fashion and food; she catered for friends and loved ones on various occasions. Even on her sick bed, she gave you the exact instructions for preparing her meal. Warm and giving, she was passionate about life and her family. She supported us all in happy and challenging times. Rose made it her mission to improve her children's lives with every ounce of heart and soul and impacted everyone she interacted with. Rose was predeceased in death by Grandpa Leo, Grand-ma Flora, Auntie Grace, Uncle Harry, and Auntie Mawusi. She is survived by Nelly Adapoe, Aron "Tony" Cunningham, Metrova Adapoe, Shannon Adapoe, Imani Adapoe, Olivia Dzeidzorm, Betty Dzah, Margaret Agoredekpe, family, and friends. We all loved Rose, and we will immensely miss her loving spirit.
