Obituary for Russell Louis "Rocky" Cancelmi II

Russell Louis Cancelmi, II, known to his friends and family as Rocky, passed away unexpectedly December 14, 2022, at the UVA Prince William Medical Center.

Born October 18, 1950, and raised in Washington, PA, he was the son of the late Russell Louis Cancelmi and Mary Milvet Cancelmi. On January 24th, 1969, in Cumberland, PA, he married his high school sweetheart, the former Carol Shawin, who survives.

Rocky was a proud Veteran who served in both the United States Navy and as a Navy Reservist. He later worked for over 30 years for Parson Management Consultants (PMC) as a Senior Field Inspector on the runway additions at Washington Dulles International Airport and the Passenger Walkway. Rocky received many accolades and awards for his work and time served with the company.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #10 for over 39 years, the Isaak Walton League, and a Lifetime Member of the NRA. As an avid Hunter and outdoorsman, he also took great pride in passing along that passion to his grandson Rock.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Bedine. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Carol Cancelmi; one son, Christopher Hockenbrock and his husband Dane; one daughter, Rana, and her husband Daniel; four grandchildren, Anna Marie Hockman, Rock Hockman, Olivia Hockenbrock, Nora Hockenbrock; and his furry companion, Winston, the French Bulldog.
