About Russell - obit

Russell Moneymaker, my friend, went to sleep on Friday night July 15 and was found dead the next morning.  His passing was not unexpected since he had been placed into home hospice with heart problems and afterward contracted COVID.

Russell was born in Tennessee, grew up in Oak Ridge and served in the U.S. Navy onboard one of their aircraft carriers.  I met him as a coworker in the 1980s.  We both lived in Manassas and worked in Maryland so we started carpooling and over time became friends.  Although Russell worked as a programmer his hobby was Astro dynamics and he was what I would consider to be an expert in that field.

Russell was married to Elizabeth Rouse.  I am not sure of the exact date but I know they were married for over 40 years; that she passed away in 2019; and that he missed her tremendously. Russell’s parents were Russell Shide Moneymaker and Dorothy Smith “Dot” Sellers.  He also had a younger brother Gordon who passed away in 2008.

Rest in Peace my friend
