Obituary

Shirley Jean Kolstad passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the age of 88, in her family home, located in Manassas, VA, with her husband, Steven A. Kolstad.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Steven and her sons, Richard and Thomas.

She was born Shirley Jean Dickerson on September 18, 1930 at her family farm in Geronimo, Oklahoma.
Shirley attended Geronimo High School in Geronimo, Oklahoma and graduated in 1948. She played basketball with the Geronimo HS Fighting Hens.

She attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma for a short time before taking a job as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell. She enjoyed square dancing at local clubs where she met Steven A. Kolstad, a young soldier stationed at Fort Still in Lawton, OK.

Shirley and Steven married on January 9, 1953 and had three sons Richard (1953), Larry (1954), and Thomas (1956).

Shirley Jean Kolstad was a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker. She moved with her husband and children every two years to Germany, Florida, Oklahoma, Massachusetts and finally Virginia. Everywhere she went, she made it our home.

The family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A celebration of life will begin at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating.
