Obituary for Shirley Gail Manuel

Shirley Gail Manuel, age 56, of Midland, Virginia was received into the arms of her Savior November 19, 2019. She was born in Warrenton, Virginia to the late Joseph William (Billy) and Margaret Manuel on June 1, 1963 and grew up in Manassas, Virginia.

Quiet by nature, Gail was a loyal and dependable woman of few words. This was evident in her 32-year career at Giant Foods where she worked faithfully and with purpose, receiving the Presidential Award for Outstanding Customer Service in 2005. Kind and humble, Gail built lasting friendships with both employees and customers.

Extraordinarily determined, Gail persevered with a headstrong devotion. Setting her mind to a task, she focused wholeheartedly on its completion. Her dedication blessed Oak Dale Baptist Church where she was a member, served on multiple committees, led Prayer Meetings, participated in the Women’s Missionary Union, and prepared the bulletin for services each Sunday.

Gail loved deeply, showering affection on her babies (dogs), Prissy and Judge. In turn, they brought her much joy and comfort. In her final weeks, it brought Gail peace to know they have been adopted by a loving couple. Gail valued the connection of family, with whom she generously shared her resources and her heart.

She is survived by her sister, Judy and husband, Don Campbell; brother, Joe and wife, Christal Manuel; nieces, Holly Campbell Elliott (John), Kelly Campbell Underwood (Garrett), Melody Campbell Hendrix (Gregg), Kathryn Campbell, and Caroline Manuel; nephew, Joshua Manuel; great-nephews, Jack Elliott, Andy Elliott and Artemis Hendrix; great-nieces, Maggie Elliott and Lizzie Elliott; uncle, Warren and wife, Carey Manuel; her closest cousins, Doris and husband, David Eisel, Ann Davis, Peyton Davis, Paige Manuel, and others too numerous to mention.

Gail has been a joy for us and her absence leaves a void in our hearts that is comforted only by the assurance of our Heavenly reunion.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Baker Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. A funeral service and interment will take place on Friday, November 22, 2019 beginning at 11 am at Oak Dale Baptist Church, 9513 Auburn Road, Nokesville, VA 20181.
