Obituary for Urmil Mehra
Urmil Mehra 85, of Fairfax Station, VA, passed away on January 11, 2021. Born on March 10, 1935 she was the daughter of Pritam Devi Kapur and Kishan Chand Kapur. On December 1, 1957 she married Gopal Krishan Mehra who predeceased her on September 16, 2009.
Our Mom lived a full life as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She loved to cook, loved crochet and loved to sing devotional songs, read Gita and to watch Ramayana. She had a melodious voice and loved to sing folk Punjabi songs and bhajans as well. Our Mom was a beautiful woman complemented with an equally beautiful soul. Her main goal in life was complete devotion to her family. She was very soft spoken and a very simple dignified lady with a very pure heart. She never raised her voice nor did she let anger take over her expression/emotions. She was very affectionate, always smiling and cheerful with a very positive persona. Her kind hearted, selfless and determined nature/disposition made her very adorable. She never demanded anything from anyone ever and was very compassionate. She loved and doted on her grandchildren and helped in their upbringing. She instilled strong values in her daughters and grandchildren that have served them well. Our Dad's demise in September 2009 took a toll on her health. She was very strong and bravely faced her health challenges. Our mom will be dearly missed and will be in our hearts forever.
Mrs. Mehra is survived by three daughters; Madhu and her husband Himanshu, Sujata and her husband Sunil, Sonia and her husband Binay and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will begin in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:30 am with a cremation to immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center. Family is requesting in lieu of flowers donations can be made to any charity of choice.
