Viola V. Taylor 92, of Manassas, Va. went home to be with the Lord and family members that proceeded her in death, at home Wednesday, November 30, 2022, due to colon cancer. She was born Oct. 01, 1930, to James Thomas Russel and Cordie Victoria Russel of Fauquier County Va. Raised in Warrenton, she was 1 of 10 children. Siblings in order: George E. Russell, Ethel Russel Shifflet, James H. Russell, Paul A. (Pee Wee) Russell, Mary E. Russell, Nellie M. Russell, William E. Russell, Leonard T. Russell, David H. Russell (12/3/41 - 12/4/41).

She married James R. Taylor on April 8, 1948, and started their family in 1949 with a total of 5 children: Viola V. Huntington w/3 children and 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Linda L. Taylor with 5 children, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, James H. Taylor with 6 children and 3 grandchildren, Violet L. Bartenstein with 2 children and 2 grandchildren, Debra A. Carter with 2 Children and 4 grandchildren.
Viola worked at Edsall Park Elementary School in Fairfax Co. during the early years of raising her children. She also cleaned houses and ironed clothes for extra income, while living on Clifton Street, Alexandria, Va. In 1970 the Taylor family moved to Manassas, Virginia and she started working at Westgate Elementary School until retirement at the age of 72.

Viola is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sons-in-law of her daughters.

Viola Taylor was a member of Victory Gospel Church and transferred to Yorkshire Freewill Baptist Church approximately 5 years ago. Services will be held at Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Rd. Manassas, Va. 20110, December 7th with 2-3 pm for viewing and Service at 3-4 pm. Celebration of life gathering at Yorkshire Freewill Baptist Church, 7620 Chestnut Street, Manassas, Va. 201121 following Funeral Services.

Mama, we are happy you are with Daddy now. We love you to the moon and back and you will be terribly missed. We are so lucky to have had you for the time we did and the blessing you have been to all of us. You are and always have been surrounded but constant love from God and your family. Always in our thoughts, forever in our hearts.
