His sons, Avery Jonathan Ashby (Alison Ashby) and Christopher James Kitchin (Alison Kitchin) and grandchildren, Alivia, Adelyn, and Alder Ashby; Haley, Mariah, and Logan (Little Butch, L.B.) Kitchin.

Born in Nottoway County Virginia and graduated from Greensville County High School in Emporia Virginia in 1971. Butch was a humble, happy auto mechanic who worked with and for Bob Garman for more than 25 years at P&B Automotive in Manassas. He could not bring himself to “retire” and was employed at Logan’s Import Service Emporium until his passing. He built a home in 1987 in Manassas, Virginia where he lived until his death. He enjoyed Jet skiing, bowling, fishing, collecting guns and cars, and appreciated good food. Called to Heaven too soon for those who knew and loved him on July 11, 2020 of cardiac arrest while serving God in Nokesville, Virginia with his beloved Pastor, Allen Perdue, at his side.

He was baptized by his dear friend and mentor, Pastor Richard Guizar on August 28, 2013 and served God at Alive Church (formerly Manassas Church of the Nazarene). He served on the Church board, as an usher, recorder of tithes, and the program to feed the homeless.

He kept God’s charge to love his wife as Christ loves the Church and his neighbor as himself. God called him home far too soon but must have needed His servant to praise Him in heaven. Those who knew him suffer loss but rejoice in knowing that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.
