Obituary

Wyman G. Buel of Woodbridge, VA joined his wife Dorothy Ruth in Heaven on May 26, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 5, 1935 in Glencoe, Alabama to Milton and Erma Buel where he was the fifth of eight children. He is preceded in death by his parents (Milton & Erma), three brothers (James, Lonnie & John), four sisters (Inez, Mildred, Dorothy & Linda), his wife (Dorothy) and one grandson (Jason). He is survived by two daughters and one son (Patricia, Mike & Kaye). He is also survived by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

After living on his family’s 40-acre farm for 16 years he purchased a one-way bus ticket and arrived in Virginia three days later. Upon his arrival in Virginia he joined his older brother James and began working in a brickyard. Shortly after arriving to VA he met the love of his life Dorothy Ruth. They married September 27, 1952 and together raised their three children in Woodbridge, Virginia. After working several different construction jobs Wyman opened his own business “Buel’s Excavating” and was an owner/operator for several years providing service to the surrounding counties in Northern Virginia.

Wyman loved Nascar and was a successful Late Model Stock-car racer at his home track of Old Dominion Speedway in Manassas, VA where he earned the nickname “The Mayor of Hoadly Road”. He won several races in Virginia and Maryland and was crowned Virginia State Champion on more than one occasion. Family and friends supported Wyman on and off the track. He was a lifelong football fan and enjoyed cheering on the Washington Redskins. He also enjoyed dancing, country music, old cars, car shows, traveling in his RV, boating, crabbing, seafood and spending time with family.

The family would like to thank the VITAS Health Care Hospice Team for the loving care they provided him and his family. Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a private service will take place at Baker–Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center on Wednesday, June 03, 2020 followed by Graveside services at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

"Who will ever forget "Saturday Night Racing" at Old Dominion. The Hoadly Gang friends forever, but on Saturday night it was who could beat who. Numerous time Wyman was the leader of the pack. He was always our kids favorite, even when Richard was
racing. Many Saturday night memories. Some good times and some bad times. Sorry to hear of Wyman's passing. Our thoughts and prayers to all. Sad that the times are such, we can't be with you'll to express our sympathies in person. Love Richard & Joyce
