Obituary for Rev. Denver Turner

Rev. Denver Turner
Rev. Denver Turner, 85, of Manassas, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2014.

Born June 11, 1928, in Kentucky, he was the son of the late John M. Turner and Maudie E. Barnett Turner. On November 6, 1948 in Harlan, KY, he married the former Mabel Creech, who survives.

Rev. Turner was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, and was the founding Pastor of the First Bible Baptist Church in Manassas Park. For over 65 years, he dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior, and helped many during their time of need.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles Turner, and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his beloved wife of 65 years, Mabel Turner of Manassas; four daughters, Helen Pickett and her husband Bill of Kentucky; Margaret Russo and her husband Doug of Florida; Stella Philips and her husband Jeff of Sumerduck; Madeline Turner of Manassas; six sons, Melvin Turner of California; Fenton Turner of Manassas; Rev. John Turner and his wife Debbie of Gainesville; James Turner and his wife Michelle of Nokesville; Paul Turner of Manassas; David Turner and his wife Lalania of Fredericksburg; 47 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

The family will received friends on Monday, May 5, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Bible Baptist Church, 206 Manassas Drive, Manassas Park, VA.

Interment with military honors will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA.
Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the First Bible Baptist Church Mission Fund, P.O. Box 627, Manassas Park, VA 20111.
