Obituary for Judith Enwright Moody

Born October 23, 1942, in West Point, New York, and baptized Roman Catholic, Judith Enwright Moody remained devoted to God and country throughout her life.

She was the beloved wife of David Yacuoby of Manassas, Virginia, for the past 14 years and the oldest daughter of the late Brig. General Alfred JF Moody and the late Jean Enwright Moody.

As a military brat, she traveled around the world with her family—in addition to her parents, they included her three surviving sisters—Jean (Jay) Moody, Joan Moody, and Joy Moody Lipsey. They lived in Fairfax, Virginia, and elsewhere in the Washington, D.C. area; France; Germany; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Carlisle, Pa., among others.

From a young age, Judy was an intelligent and creative person. As a young woman, she painted, performed ballet and wrote poetry. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Alexandria, Virginia and Marymount College in Arlington, Virginia. She graduated from American University in 1965 with a B.A. in Education.

Judy then embarked on a career as a gifted educator, noted especially for her charm with young children. She taught in a number of schools around the country and also was a top national salesperson for the American Automobile Association. She married David Yacuoby on May 5, 2001; her nephew John Alfred Tyson gave her away at the wedding. Although retired on disability in recent years, she felt her days with her husband David were the best of her life. They shared an interest in art, music, and religion and corresponded with people around the globe on Facebook. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at 10:00 am in All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Rd. Manassas, VA 20110, with Father Lee Roos, officiating.
