Janice Niblett  Clark
Janice Faye Niblett (Jan) Clark died at home in Gainesville, VA, surrounded by her loved ones, on Friday, June 19, 2015, due to complications from MS.

Jan was born April 6, 1943 to Marian (nee Tyndall) and Walter T. Niblett of Chincoteague Island, VA. The first woman of her family to leave Chincoteague and pursue higher education, Jan attained a Bachelors in English and Masters in Education degree from George Washington University and a Doctorate of Education In Counseling from Virginia Tech. She dedicated her 32 year career with Fairfax County Public Schools to the success of children and their families. Jan began as an English teacher but quickly realized that her calling was counseling. She worked at W.T.Woodson HS/English, Herndon HS and Oakton HS/Counseling and Centreville HS as Guidance Director. In 1989 she became the Director of Student Services for the then Area II Schools in Fairfax County Public schools. Her achievements in counseling included leadership positions at both the local and state level, President of VA Counselors Association.

Jan was diagnosed with Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in 2001. She had a passion for G words in both her vocation and avocation (Guidance counseling, Golf and, as the disease progressed, Genealogy).

She maintained a lifelong connection to her childhood home on Chincoteague Island, purchasing and renovating her aunt’s home with her life partner.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jan married her life partner of 25 years in October 2014 and is survived by her spouse, Linda Sue Dauphin of Gainesville, VA; and cousins Denise Van Doren of Easton, PA;
Earl Steven Niblett of Atlantic, VA; and Milford Budd of Tampa, FL.

Interment will be private. A celebration of her life will be held at Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club on September 20th at 2:30 pm. The celebration will take place in the Oak Ballroom in the Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and The Eastern Shore (www.foodbankonline.org).
