Larry and I used to enjoy backpacking many years and many pounds ago. There is one very long trail through the virgin timber in the the Mark Twain national Forest. The second day of switchbacks and "ridge running" had provided beautiful scenery, plentiful exercise, and little water. Finally came down the mountain into a natural glade. No roads in or out that we could see. In the center of the grass was a small natural spring. Buried our faces in that cold clear water.
