Obituary for Phyllis Feltenberger Cozzens

Phyllis Feltenberger  Cozzens
Phyllis Feltenberger Cozzens of 14342 Bakerwood Place, Haymarket, Viginia passed away on April 1, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born on September 10, 1952 in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania to Fisher Axel and Jean Marie Feltenberger. Phyllis attended Huntingdon Area High School where she was a cheerleader and ran track, graduating in 1970. She then attended Juniata College in Huntingdon graduating in 1974 with a Liberal Arts degree. After college Phyllis moved to Washington DC, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and then to Atlanta where she met her husband William F. Cozzens. At the time of her death she worked for The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Washington DC.
Phyllis was a founding member of The Piedmont golf club and was an accomplished golfer winning many club awards to include ladies club championship and four holes in one. When visiting Huntingdon she could easily be found at The Standing Stone or Mount Union golf courses.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of twenty three years William F. Cozzens of Haymarket, her brother Axel Feltenberger and wife Pamela in Roswell, Ga., nephew Brian Feltenberger of St. Petersburg Fl., nephew Brent Feltenberger of West Palm Beach, Fl., and niece Jenny Korb of Smyrna, Ga. She is also survived by sister–in-law Nancy Kimberly and her husband Howard; stepdaughter Carla L. Grieshop, her husband David and their children Aaron and Stephen of Hilliard, Ohio; stepdaughter Carrie J. Kanani, her husband Navid and their children Nura and Zia of Irvine, California.
Services will be held in both Manassas, Virginia and Huntingdon. The Huntingdon services will be held at Peters Funeral Home, 1106 Mifflin St. Huntingdon on Saturday April 5th. Family will receive friends from noon to two o’clock. Phyllis’ funeral service will be held at two o’clock followed by interment at Huntingdon Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial bench honoring Phyllis will be placed on the 12th tee at the Piedmont Golf Course in Haymarket, Virginia, just outside the door of her home.
