Obituary for Allen Fairfax

Allen Fairfax
Allen “Lolly” Fairfax, age 96, passed away of natural causes on January 30, 2016 at his residence in Manassas, Virginia.

Born on May 9, 1919, he was the son of the late Joshua and Leoma Fairfax.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings (three brothers and three sisters).
He is survived by his wife, Christine Fairfax of Manassas, VA; son, Leonard Fairfax of Romney, WV; son, Larry Fairfax of Manassas, VA; and daughter, Pam Lagundo also of Manassas, VA. Allen also leaves behind nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He and Christine were married for 74 years.

Known as “Lolly” by family and close friends, he was a hard worker -- a “jack of all trades.” He was good with his hands and could fix anything. He and his wife built their home in 1947 and remained there until his death. He was a healthy/strong man, and was hospitalized only once in his 96 years (and that was in 2014 at age 95) and never had surgery. He was still spending his spare time repairing small engines at his residence until his eye-sight started to fail in is mid-eighties. Neighborhood folks came to him with their lawn mowers, chain saws, etc. because they knew they would get a fair deal. He spent most of his time outside working (weather permitting) in his driveway and passers-by would stop by and say hi or wave as they drove by.
He was a lifetime member of the Manassas Moose Lodge 1380 on Brentsville Road, Manassas, Virginia and was an active member for over 30 years.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

A private interment will follow the service on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Fair and Cornwell Cemetery in Manassas, Virginia.
