Obituary for Carol Ann Korb

Carol Ann Korb
Carol Korb, 84 (a few short weeks from 85) passed away on August 15th. She fought long and hard after a weeklong hospital stay where she was diagnosed with CHF and suffered from respiratory complications. She was ready to be with her husband, as she passed, she was surrounded by her family.

Carol Korb was born on September 6, 1937, to Thomas Smith and Helen Harding in Hartford, Connecticut. She had 7 brothers and sisters who were all raised by different family members as her parents passed at a very young age. She was the last one surviving out of all of her siblings.

In 1964 she met Rainer, married in 1966 going on to have two girls, Carolyn and Sharon. At the time of their birth, she thought she was only having one baby, but it turned out they were twins. Carol dedicated a big part of her life to being a fantastic and wonderful Mom but when the girls went to school full time, she decided to start working for AT&T, and became a telephone operator. She was dedicated in everything she did. She was truly the volunteer extraordinaire. She joined the local labor union, volunteered as a telephone pioneer helping the homeless, sponsoring food drives. She also volunteered at the league of woman voters (her political beliefs were well known). She worked at local blood banks and supported blood drives. Was part of Catholic charities and enjoyed time with the Red Hatters where many lifelong friendships were made. She always found time to run carnivals at our school, brownie troops and ran many other school events. She gave of her time tire sly as Rainer worked as a NYC police officer and together, they provided a wonderful childhood. She never missed a birthday, special event, occasion, and would often throw money at anyone who helped her later in life because she felt like that was her only way of not feeling guilty as she aged.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Lynch and her husband Dale Lynch, Sharon Agostinelli and her husband Salvatore, 5 grandchildren, AJ, Shane and Megan, Danny and Toni Ann, 1 great grandchild and three furry grand dogs, Jax, Brodie and Bailey…coming soon.

Arrangements are scheduled for Monday, August 22nd at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center,
10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. A viewing will be held from 2-4, with a service to follow at 4 PM.
