Christine E. Kerns, age 86, of Manassas, passed away Friday, September 14th, 2012 at the Manassas Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Born March 31st, 1926 in Brentsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Irvin and Effie Mae Petty Cornwell. Christine was married to Nathaniel Ashby Kerns, who preceded her in death on February 15th, 1983.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Kerns was also preceded in death by one son, Nathaniel Ray Kerns, Sr. and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Bonnie Bowers; five grandchildren, Christine Allen, Nathaniel Kerns, Jr., Patrick Kerns, Ronnie Bowers, and Andrea Bowers; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 19th, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 20th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating. Interment will follow in the Culpeper National Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
