Dr. Michael Fulda
Dr. Michael Fulda, 78, passed away on April 14, 2018, in Gainesville, Virginia. Michael left behind his devoted wife, Rosetta. They shared almost 48 years of marriage together.

Born in Liverpool, England, to Boris Fulda and Catherine Von Dehn, Michael also lived in Switzerland and Argentina before moving to the United States in 1962 and becoming a citizen in 1966. Michael held masters and doctoral degrees in International Studies from American University in Washington, DC. He was a veteran of the US Army and Army Reserves. Michael was a retired professor of Political Science and Ballroom Dance at the Fairmont State College. In the 1980s, he served as the WV State Committee Chairman for John Anderson’s presidential run. He was a visiting lecturer at Bauman University in Moscow, Russia, a director of the National Space Society, and the president of the Institute for the Social Science Study of Space.

Michael was a lifelong lover and supporter of the arts. He served on the Board of Directors of the Fairmont Chamber Music Society, was the founder and faculty advisor of the Dancing Falcons ballroom dancing club, and a passionate supporter of PBS. In addition to the arts, Michael valued the importance of Boy Scouting. He, himself was a 2nd generation scout and member of the Advancement Committee of his local Boy Scout District. He was also exceedingly proud to have two Eagle Scout sons, and a young grandson well on his way to achieving the same honor.

Michael was beloved by many. Respected for his vast knowledge of political science, chess, space and the space program, and higher education, Michael will also be remembered fondly for his unique and undaunted personality, and his unwavering devotion to his family.

In addition to his wife Rosetta, Michael is survived by his sons Robert (Kathy) of Aurora, IL, and George (Samantha) of Gainesville, VA. He is also survived by four much loved grandchildren: Alex (11) and Lili (7) of Virginia, and Blaise (5) and Alyssa (3) of Illinois.

Out of respect for the wishes of the deceased, only a private memorial service will be held. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to PBS at weta.org or the Boy Scouts of America at donations.scouting.org.
