Obituary for Franklin D. Miller

Franklin D.  Miller
Franklin D. Miller was born on December 15, 1935, in Wise, VA. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 3, 2023. Frank was a graduate of J. J. Kelly High School, where he played basketball with his brother, Virgil. After high school, he attended The Wise Vocational School. He then took a job with Raytheon in Bristol, TN before moving to Manassas, VA to work for Atlantic Research Corporation (now Aerojet) as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Frank married Carole Ann Robinette on June 27, 1963. Frank was a member of Grace United Methodist Church since moving to Manassas. He enjoyed playing golf both with groups from church and with his brother, Virgil and sister, Darnell when they would vacation in Myrtle Beach, SC. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and tell stories about his large family of brothers and sisters and was always happiest when he went back home.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Pat and Nannie Lou Miller, his sisters Leda Jesse, Mary Lou Buell, Patsy Jennings, Glenda Jean Miller, and Connie Jo Miller Jordan and his brothers Virgil J. Miller, and Roger Dale Miller.

He is survived by wife, Carole, children Franklin D. Miller, Jr. (spouse Stephanie) and LeeAnn Miller Carte (spouse James) and grandchildren, Meghan Imber (spouse Alan), Hannah Miller and David J. Carte. He is survived by siblings Darnell Miller Boff, Judy Miller, Carroll Smith, Sheran Hughes, Sue Young, Richard P. Miller, Jr., and Carl Jeffrey Miller and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, in Manassas, VA on Friday, February 10, 2023. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM, the funeral service at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. Graveside interment services will be held at Quantico National Cemetery on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 9750 Wellington Rd., Manassas, VA, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Staff & Care Team Partners at Poet’s Walk Memory Care of Warrenton for the loving care they provided to Frank in his final weeks. Their kindness, compassion and uplifting spirits were a comfort to Frank and the family, who will be forever grateful.
