Gail L.  Eckstrom
Gail Linee Eckstrom, 71, died peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2024, at a nursing home in Fairfax, Virginia. She had dementia.

She was born July 29, 1953, in Memorial Hospital, Maddock, North Dakota, to Earling and Gina (Engene) Eckstrom. Gail was raised by foster parents, Paul, and Pauline Widiger in Fessenden, North Dakota, where she attended public school. She graduated from NDSU with a BS degree and had a career spanning 20 years with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, DC. After receiving an LPN license, she chose to be a caregiver in Iowa.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bud and wife, Mona; a nephew, Shannon Daughtry; and Uncle Alf Engene, of Esmond.

She is survived by sisters Judi Daughtry in Escondido, California; Carol Thompson in North Dakota; Elaine Stillwell and nephew John Stillwell of Manassas, Virginia; niece Courtney Eckstrom, Washington state; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Gail will be laid to rest at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Esmond with other Engene, North Dakota family members. She will rest atop her mother, Gina. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
