Grace Hubbard Cherveny Schmalenberg passed away peacefully at her home in Clifton, VA on April 15, 2021. Mrs. S., as many knew her, was born December 22, 1927 in Islip, New York to the late George D. Cherveny and Harriet Day Cherveny. She and her husband Henry married on May 5th, 1947. A job transfer brought Grace and Henry to Fairfax Virginia where they raised their 2 younger children, their oldest son soon joining them. Grace managed the family’s successful recreational vehicle business. Grace and her husband traveled throughout the world until Henry passed away in 2001. Grace continued to manage the business until her retirement at age 80. After retirement, Grace took time to attend baseball games, visit family and friends, and travel to favorite vacation spots. Grace is survived by her son Gary of Culpeper, VA, her daughter Ellen [Kusar] of Sterling, VA, her brother Warren Cherveny of Eustis, Florida, and her sister Susan Cherveny Nelson of Hudson, NH. In addition, she leaves behind six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and other family and friends. As well as the loss of her husband Henry, she is predeceased by her beloved son Steven, and her brother George.
