Obituary for Harding B. Hansen

Harding B. Hansen, 88, of Sarasota, FL, passed away September 18, 2008 at the Prince William Hospital.

Born April 18, 1920 in Strandquist, MN, he was the son of William F. and Anne O. Nelson Hansen. On December 23rd, 1941, he married the former Shirlie Fry, who preceded him in death in 1992.

Harding graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Allis Chalmers, later known as Siemens Allis for over 50 years, serving in different capacities, including plant manager and supervisor. He also worked as a civilian in Oakridge, TN on the timing mechanism for the atomic bomb. Mr. Hansen served on the Wakashaw Symphony Board and Brookfield School Board in Wisconsin, and was a resident of Sarasota, FL for 28 years, where he was a member of the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Sheryl Ann Waltman of Milwaukee, WI; one son, Rev. William F. Hansen, II and his wife Rozane of Manassas; one sister, Gwendolyn L. Olson and her husband Robert of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Anne Gosetti and her husband Joel of West Allis, WI; Curtis G. Waltman of Big Sky, MT; Angie D. Hansen of Centre Barnstead, NH; and two great-grandchildren, Nora and Gabriella Gosetti.

There will be no public visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Sarasota, FL. Interment will take place in the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church Memorial Garden, Sarasota, FL.

Memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church, 4826 South McIntosh Road, Sarasota, Florida 34233.
