Obituary for Herman Fred Mosteller

Herman Fred Mosteller passed away peacefully at his home in Manassas Park, Virginia on June 15th, 2014 at the age of 84.

He was born on October 11th, 1929 to the late Houd Dackus and Louise Green Mosteller in Greenville, South Carolina.

A veteran of the Korean War, Fred continued his service by becoming an active member of VFW Post 1811 and American Legion Post #10.

He is predeceased by his loving wife, Dorothy Lee Mosteller, whom he married on January 29, 1954.

Fred is survived by four children; Jane Theresa Rhodes and her husband Rudy, Jaylene Marie Walsh, Richard Neil Mosteller and his wife Karen, and Gail Mosteller Bishop; five grandchildren: Kenneth Reed Mayhugh and his wife Ginger, Jeanette Valentine Rose and her husband Derek, Jessica Lynn Jones and her husband Andrew, Rachel Elizabeth Mosteller, and Michael Thomas Mosteller; and three great-grandchildren: Kori Leanne Mayhugh, Kenneth Reed Mayhugh, Jr., and Alexander Fly Jones; as well as numerous extended family members.

He was affectionately known as “Pop” by his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Interment will take place in Culpeper National Cemetery, Culpeper, VA on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at 12:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to American Legion Post 10, 9950 Cockrell Rd. Manassas, VA 20110 or VFW Post 1811 P.O. Box 804, Manassas Park, VA 20113.
