Obituary for Jack A. Orr

Jack A. Orr
Jack A. Orr, age 85 of Warrenton, VA, passed away Monday evening August 20, 2018.

Jack was born in Del Rio, Tennessee on August 14, 1933 to the late Millard and Annie Orr. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Orr; son Vanis Orr; grandson Patrick Orr; great-granddaughter Anna Ingle; several sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his 4 sons, Arnold Orr, Millard Orr and wife Melanie; Johnny Orr; Orvail Orr and wife Jackie; as well as his sister, Grace Grant. Jack was not only a loving and dedicated husband and father, but also a grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jack was not only a skilled carpenter by trait, but helped to start his own construction company “Jack Orr and Sons“with Orvail and Vanis. When Jack wasn’t at work, you would find him in the woods hunting, in the mountains trout fishing, or at the track betting on the ponies.

Jack was the definition of a true outdoorsman. His love for the outdoors was something very special that he passed down to not only his sons, but many of his grandchildren as well.

Jack loved traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway, where there was always wildlife to be seen, when going home to the Smoky Mountains, TN.

He loved to tell stories, play cards and his bluegrass music. These are just a few of the many traits that made him into the man that we all love and will miss dearly.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
