James Albert  Hudson Sr.
The world lost a loving father and grandfather on December 4, 2015, as James “Booter” Hudson passed away in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carrie “Ginny” Hudson, daughter Virginia Ann Hudson, parents Basil and Ruth Hudson, brothers Bill and Bud Hudson, and sisters Nora Fletcher and Katherine Atkins.

He is survived by son, Jimmy Hudson and wife Garnet of Martinsburg, WV; daughters, Patricia Steele and husband Eddie of Nokesville, VA and Lisa Taylor and husband Jimmy of Manassas Park, Va; Grandchildren, Jennifer Steele, Michelle Hudson, Kenny Hudson, Courtney Steele, Leslie Staley and husband Chris, and Katie Taylor; Great-grandchildren, Chloe, Trevor, and Chase Hudson, Karly Mills and one sister, Barbara Gibbs.

James was born March 30, 1940. James met his wife Ginny in May of 1959 at a dance hall in Warrenton, Va. He was smitten and asked Ginny to marry him within the first few months of dating. They were married September 12, 1959 in Manassas, Va. Together, they raised their three children and were blessed with 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Their marriage remained strong for 52 years until he lost Ginny in 2012.

James was an active member in the slow pitch softball community and was well respected around the fields. He coached countless teams over the years; his most well-known team was Fletcher& Son. His teams always enjoyed much success. He was eventually inducted into the Prince William County Softball Hall of Fame.

When he wasn’t at the softball fields, you could find James either singing karaoke or playing the slots.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 beginning at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Lonnie Salyers officiating.

Burial will immediately follow at Stonewall Memorial Gardens in Manassas, Va.
