Obituary for Jeffrey Michael Holt

Jeffrey Michael Holt
With heavy hearts, we announce the news of First Lieutenant Jeffrey Holt's passing on January the 1st, 2023 in Middleburg, VA.

Jeff was born in Nevada with the soul of a U.S. Marine and embodied that esprit de corps even before he stepped on the yellow footprints of boot camp in 1997. He began his career as the honor graduate and was designated an 0311 (rifleman). Throughout his time of enlistment, Jeff participated in several deployments, received multiple awards and meritorious promotions, and was accepted to the Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program. Jeff attended University of Utah and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in April 2006 where he, again, was designated the honor graduate and recognized for his leadership abilities and dedication to his studies. 2ndLt Holt was assigned to 2d Tanks and went on to become the Charlie Company Commander after a deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

His feelings of pride, fellowship, and loyalty to his Marines never waned, including the years after he separated from service in 2009. He also had a silly side that fed his boyish love for Lego, new technologies, and playing in the dirt, snow, and sand. Celebrating life with Jeff usually involved a great craft brew or a rare whiskey. Never will you find a man with more eclectic collections that all shout - “This man is prepared for anything and will fiercely protect all those he loves!”

More than a warrior, Jeff was a true renaissance man in his curiosity and thorough pursuit of knowledge. While he loved a good crayon-eating Marine joke, he was far from one himself - a self-taught Auto-CAD wizard, early adopter of 3D printing and, most recently, a returning student at George Mason University for a second degree in computer science.

Jeff's most important role, however, was father to three beautiful children - Brinen (17), Sasha (6), and Anja (2) - and husband to his wife, Nicole. He is also survived by his brother Curtis, wife Tanisha and son Braxton; and sister Lainie, husband Jeramiah, and daughters Makenzie, Rylee, and Kolbie.

The void Jeff left behind can never be filled. He brought a unique excitement to every activity and a wicked sense of humor to every conversation. He was a huge presence in every way and will be sorely missed.

Jeff will be put to rest at Quantico National Cemetery with military honors on February the 17th, 2023 (18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, VA 22172) at 1230 pm.

Donations in support of the family can be made at the following link and will be used to help with meals, groceries, and celebration of life costs.
