Obituary for Lenora Denise Yarbrough

Lenora Denise Yarbrough was born on November 16, 1968, and she went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2022.

She was born in Winston-Salem, N.C. to the late Evelyn Chavis and Dock McKay. The family moved to Washington, D.C. in 1975. Lenora attended Blow Pierce Elementary School. She graduated from Jefferson High School and Dum Bar Senior High School. Lenora was the baby girl of 3 siblings.

Lenora worked around the DMV and had a certificate for cosmetology. She was very outgoing and and had a smile that was contagious and very determined. Whatever she set her mind to, it was a done deal. She was a go getter, no question about it! Her favorite gospel song was “We are going to see the King” and reggae music was her favorite. She was baptized at the age of 9 and loved the water and became the best swimmer.

Besides her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her brother, Vernard.

Lenora leaves to cherish her memory her 2 children, Dockell and Lenora; 6 grandchildren, Joli, Sarae, Rockell, Zariah, Samuel, and Bouba; sister, Janice; brother, Dwight; son in law, Seydou Doussa; daughter-in-law, Zakiyyth; and brother-in-law, Jeffrey. Also surviving are 2 nieces, Evelyn and Alicia; great nieces, DeAunie, Danisha and Trinity; nephew, Lydell, great nephew, Jeremiah and little Dewight and Deaundre; uncle and aunt, Ired and Edwa Chavis along with 2 great great nieces and a nephew.
