Obituary for Marie G. Del Sordi
Beloved by all who knew her, Marie Del Sordi passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 13, 2022.
Born in New Jersey on May 6, 1932, Marie was the daughter of Angela and Philip Raphael, and the younger sister of Philip Raphael, Jr. After finishing her studies, she married Anthony Del Sordi, Sr., and had four children; Anthony, Jr., Philip, Angela, and Lisa. Her family was the center of her life, and when her children were young, she dedicated herself to being a wife and full-time mother. In the late 1960s, the family relocated from New Jersey to Northern Virginia, where Marie spent the remainder of her life. In her later years, she worked for nearly two decades as a manager for Sprint Communications.
In her free time, she enjoyed playing Bingo with friends, trips to Las Vegas, spending time with her pets, visiting the beautiful horse country in Middleburg, VA, and spending time with family and friends.
For the last three years of her life, Marie battled congestive heart failure. Given only months to live in 2019, she beat the odds with her typical Italian spirit. She lived with her daughter and caretaker, Lisa, and pushed through to the end of 2022, surrounded by friends and family.
She is survived by one son; Philip Del Sordi (Barbara), of MD, two daughters; Angela and Lisa Del Sordi, both of VA, two sisters-in-law; Sylvia Macchiaverna and Marie Anello, both of NJ, three grandchildren; Sophia Rahmani (Christopher), of NC, Alana Del Sordi and Philip Del Sordi, Jr., both of MD, and one great-granddaughter; Ava Rivas-Rodriguez, of NC.
Marie will be cremated and a service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11:00am, at Baker Post Funeral Home in Manassas, Va.
