Obituary for Norma Lentz Ford

Norma Lentz  Ford
Norma Isabel Lentz Ford (Nonie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren) passed away in the early morning of September 26, 2014 in her home in Woodbridge, VA at the age of 90.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Astrid Lentz, and her son, Jack Thomas Ford.
Norma and her surviving husband, Ford, were married in Little Rock, Arkansas, before Ford was sent overseas for military service in Europe. On January 16, 2015, they would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.

Norma was born in Mt. Sinai Hospital, San Francisco, California, on April 6, 1924. She graduated from Bishop High School in 1942, attended Loma Linda College and Business School before entering the work force in Pasadena, Ca. She ultimately achieved her goal of a college degree in Psychology from Sacramento State College in 1973. She worked as an Administrative Assistant to Bank Managers, the California Assembly and the California Air Resource Board. After retiring and moving to Virginia, she engaged in volunteer work at the Potomac Hospital and was a member of the Woodbridge Woman’s Club. In earlier years, she enjoyed snow skiing and tennis. More recently, she loved traveling with the Blue Birds, Mahjong, solitaire, reading, and was an expert in creating beautiful cross stich pieces.

In addition to her devoted husband Ford of 69 years, Norma is lovingly remembered by her son and daughter -in-law, Bob and Gae and their children, her grandchildren, Sunnybrook, Autumn, Breeze, Meadow and Robby; her great-grandchildren, Danielle, Skyla, Ava, River, and Jagger, as well as granddaughter, Lianna, who is Jack's daughter. She will also be missed by many lifelong, loving friends, she always thought of as family to her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 2, 2014, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd, Manassas, Virginia. A memorial service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with her son, Robert B. Ford officiating.

Interment will be private and at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 4301 N Fairfax Dr. #530, Arlington, VA 22203, the American Cancer Society, 124 Park St SE, Vienna, VA 22180, or a charity of your choice.
