Obituary for Rediate "Rida" Girma

Rediate "Rida" Girma
Rediate “Rida” Girma, a loving mother, sister, aunt and friend, left the world suddenly on May 7, 2023, at age 42.

Rida was born to her father Girma Genemo and mother Tsyon Tesfaye on August 26th 1980, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She was the second oldest of six children and had a special and unique relationship with each of her siblings; Biniyam, Nahome, Nardos, Gideon and Chernet. She was a loving mother to Ezekiel and Layla Mosley and a devoted aunt to Destiny and Zoey.

Rida was an extraordinarily kind woman who loved deeply and gave her all in life. Rida was unapologetically herself and had a profound appreciation for honesty and clarity. Her love for her children was immeasurable and she seized every opportunity to create magic in their lives.

Rida was affirming, wise, generous, nurturing, genuine, beautiful inside and out, and truly was an unmatched light in this world. She had an enormous impact in the lives of everyone around her by allowing people to be their most authentic self. She has always remained loyal to her family and friends through her life. One of the remarkable things about Rida was her ability to be completely present in conversations and made everyone feel like they mattered most in that moment. This unique trait is what made her the memory keeper for her loved ones.

She pushed her loved ones to be the best versions of themselves and demanded that her family and friends “Just be happy!” She showed up for her friends and families during hard times, never judging and always willing to help in any way that she could.

Rida was and will always be the truest expression of love, our fiercest protector. She will be missed each and every day and her loved ones are now the memory keepers of her life.
