Obituary for Richard Gordon Bowen

Richard Gordon Bowen
Richard Gordon Bowen passed away on Monday, October 30th, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in Manassas, VA. He was born on November 20th, 1958, in Oakland, California, to his parents, Helen Francis Graves and Gordon Russell Bowen, and was the youngest of five children: George Bowen, Dori Singleterry, Marsha Cordtz, and Debbie Desimone.

An early adopter of technology, Richard's career led him into the world of tech, where he organized technology showcases at Unisys and Oracle. However, his true passion lay in event planning, and he shone brightly in the non-profit sector, particularly with FBLA-PBL, where he dedicated his talents to organizing national conferences for high school and college students.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Richard worked at Liberty House in California, a place where destiny played its part. It was there that he met the love of his life, Gail Joy Matsumoto. On November 15th, 1986, they united in matrimony, creating a bond that would last a lifetime. Together, they had two children, Erik Daniel Kazumi Bowen and Blake Andrew Tomio Bowen.

Richard is survived by his sons, Erik and Blake, as well as his siblings, cousins, aunt, nieces, and nephews.

No service will be held at this time. Please address any correspondence to his son, Erik, erikdkbowen@gmail.com.
