Richard Alvin  Ness
Richard Ness, 87, passed away on 12/12/20.

He grew up in Duluth, MN and as an adult he came to Virginia to serve in the Army and decided to stay due to the lighter winters.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 37 years, Edith, his 2 daughters, Terri Hogan & Debbie Rexroad & his stepdaughter, Carol Myers. He had 10 grandchildren, but 2 of them preceded him in death: JohnJohn and Ashley. He was also preceded in death by his son, Rick Ness, a daughter, Cathy Ness & stepson, Kenny Malone. He leaves behind lots of extended family and many friends and neighbors.

He was a proud and patriotic American and Army veteran. He was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He worked & retired from the United States Postal Service after 33 years. He was also a devoted member of the N.A.L.C. (National Association of Letter Carriers). He spent many years enjoying hunting and fishing. He loved taking his grandkids to Pizza Hut to have a pizza, a soda and a beer for him.

Services will be private, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date due to the COVID pandemic.
