Robert E. Barker, 71, of Manassas, passed away September 8th, 2008.

Born January 25th, 1937 in Flint, Michigan, he was the son of Harry and Bernice Kirsheman Barker. On July 16th, 1963 in Flint, Michigan, he married the former Jeannine K. Hunter, who survives.

Mr. Barker was employed as a computer engineer at Scope for over 12 years, prior to his retirement in 1989.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Elsie McMichael. Surviving besides his loving wife of 45 years are three daughters, Candy Cross and her husband Russell of Spotsylvania; Bethany Barbee and her husband Daniel of Manassas; Shawn Barker-Johnson of Manassas; two sisters, Lucille Harmon of Flint, MI; Patricia Morse of Mt. Morris, MI; two brothers, Harry Barker and his wife Bev of Swartz Creek, MI; Earl Barker of Flint MI; and four grandchildren, Katherine, Ben, Jennifer, Savanah, and one great-grandson, James.

Mr. Barker requested that there be no public visitation or funeral services. Interment will be private and take place at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Manassas, Virginia.
