Obituary for Rondal Frederick Blankenship

Rondal Frederick  Blankenship
Rondal Frederick Blankenship, age 87, of Nokesville VA passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Haymarket Medical Center.

He was born February 18, 1931 in Giles County, VA, to Bernard and Vivian (Payne) Blankenship. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, followed with several years in the Marine Corps Reserve. He was a retired carpenter who enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Nascar and westerns. He enjoyed gardening and raised a large vegetable garden every year and was an avid Washington Redskin fan.

He was proceeded in death by parents, Bernard and Vivian Blankenship, his Step-Mother Mary Magdalene Blankenship, three brothers William "Bill" Blankenship, Howard Blankenship, James "JW" Blankenship and his beloved side companion Crissy.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Lois (Compton), three children, Annette Graham and husband John of Livingston TX, Michael "Mike" Blankenship of Nokesville VA, and Pamela "Pam" Bettis and husband Tommy of Midland VA, and special furry companion Houston. Also surviving are his siblings, Harry (Blanche) Blankenship, Peterstown WV; Charlotte Compton, Manassas VA; Shelby King, Amissville VA; Dorothy Towler, Nokesville VA, Phillip (Donna) Blankenship, Bealeton VA; Carol (Chuck) Fergusson, Keller TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 23rd, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 24th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Rd, Triangle, VA 22172. Everyone is asked to assemble at the cemetery by 12:45 p.m.
