Shawn Michael Potter, age 44, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 27th.

Shawn resided in Loudoun County with his beloved dog Harry. He was born in South Dakota and moved to Manassas in 1986 where he graduated from Osbourn High School in 1997. Shawn graduated from James Madison University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art. He specialized in multimedia as a government contractor, working for NextPoint Group for most of his career.

He was a gifted artist that had an amazing eye to capture moments through color and contrast. The moving images and intricate videos he created were praised for their quality, content, and originality.

For those who knew Shawn, they experienced the depth of his compassion, love, and unwavering generosity. He loved with an intensity that touched everyone around him.

Shawn is survived by his parents, Bob and Nancy Potter of Manassas, VA, brother Robbie (Jodi) of Plymouth, MA, sister Kimmy (Neal) of Bristow, VA, five nieces, and one nephew. He was loved by Aunts, Uncle, cousins, and many friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 9759 Wellington Road, Manassas, VA 20110, where a funeral service will follow immediately at 2:00 p.m.

A reception will follow at American Legion Post 10, 9950 Cockrell Rd, Manassas, VA, 20110 for a continued time of fellowship.
