The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Sister Doris Nolte can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Robert Davis

Sister Mary David was the principal at Linton Hall Military School when I attended during the 1964 - 65 school year in 5th grade. At that time cadets lived in dormitories that contained 48 cadets with a small bedroom for the sister in charge attached at the far end close to the bathrooms. The cadets beds were arranged in 3 rows of 16. Sister Mary David, the military commandant, Bill, and the rest of the Benedictine Sisters taught grades 1-8 and enforced the very strict rules and school punishments. The environment was controversial to this day and became more lenient with each year passing. I think that Sister Mary David did a good job by devoting her life to provide an environment that many young boys needed at the time. Looking back, by today's standards the rules were harsh, but typical of the times. No doubt that Sister Mary David as the name, I knew her by will be missed by many and she and many other Benedictine Sisters set a good example for others. I spoke to her about 15 years ago when Sister Mary Leo and I had a phone conversation one afternoon discussing old times at Linton Hall and St. Paul's school. RIP.
