Obituary for Virginia Magdalene Davis
Virginia Magdalene Davis, 79, of Manassas, VA departed this life December 27, 2013.
Born January 26, 1934 in Sampson county, North Carolina, Virginia, fondly known as “Magdalene or Maggie” worked in communications after graduating Halls High School in North Carolina and attending nursing school. She married Carroll Davis October 24, 1954 and had three children. She retired from GTE in 1994. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, traveling and shopping of course. She really loved entertaining the family at gatherings in her home. Her fourth of July sweet tea and potato salad and holiday dressing and pound cake are just some of the favorites she made every year with love.
Maggie is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Callie Hollingsworth, brothers, Daniel (Norwood) Hollingsworth and David Hollingsworth, sister, Annette Hollingsworth and son, Gale Davis. To remember and celebrate her life, she leaves two sisters, Elsie Herring and Minva Hollingsworth of North Carolina, daughter, Phyllis Burke (George Burke) of Culpeper, VA, son, Jeff Davis (Elizabeth (Beth) Davis) of Manassas, VA, nephew David Herring of North Carolina, nieces, Sylvia Tach of Langhorne, PA, Lisa Fox (Thomas (Tommy) Fox) of Fredericksburg, VA, Lizzette Hollingsworth-Gunkel of Novi, MI and grandchildren, Tyler, Weber, Charlotte, Hope and Preston.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4th, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA 20110. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Todd Tennant officiating.
Interment will be in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.
Acknowledgement: The family would like to thank the employees of Tall Oaks of Reston, VA and Oak Springs of Warrenton, VA for their years of compassionate and professional care. Our sincere thanks and appreciation for your prayers and many acts of kindness during the passing of our loved one.
