Warren L. Wolfrey, Sr., age 82, of Manassas, VA. Passed away on July 2, 2020.

Warren is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, the former Joan Miller. He is also survived by his son Gary Wolfrey, Sr. and wife Karey of Manassas, daughter in law Bette Wolfrey of Warrenton, grandchildren Gary Jr. and wife Cathy, Jackie and husband Brandon, Shiloh and husband Colin, John, Jr. and wife Megan, Justin and partner Megan and Joey and wife Ashley and by his great grandchildren David, Joey, Jr., Trinity and Quinn. Also surviving are six brothers, three sisters, six sisters -in- law, two brothers- in- law and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Warren was preceded in death by his sons Warren, Jr. and John and grandson Jason.

Born in Clifton Station, VA on October 11, 1937 to the late Rosa Stanley and Clarence Wolfrey, Warren’s family moved to the Nokesville area and became a part of that community. Warren attended Brentsville High School where he enjoyed playing on the basketball and baseball teams. Warren’s love for sports continued throughout his life and he passed this passion on to his boys and his grandchildren. His favorite times were those spent with them watching games on tv, taking them to local high school games, playing a game of pickup basketball in the backyard or pitching horseshoes. Warren was an avid Maryland Terrapin fan and a lifelong NY Yankee fan.

Throughout his life, Warren, together with his beloved Joan, welcomed all into their home. It was known as the place to gather for neighborhood kids, their boys’ friends and eventually their grandkids’ friends. Warren, lovingly called Pop-Pop by his grandkids, relished this time spent with his grandkids and their friends, as his grandkids were his pride and joy. Warren was so beloved by all of the kid’s friends that most of them also considered him to be their second dad and their own pop-pop.

While attending high school, Warren worked on many of the local Nokesville farms. Always a hard worker, he was known for his toughness, his firmness, and being a strong leader. Warren was very competitive and this trait, together with the fact that he never met a stranger, allowed him to earn many honors as top salesman during his 51 years in the tire business.

In his retirement years Warren was able to enjoy many of his favorite activities such as playing the slots and watching the horse races at Charlestown, playing cards with his family, taking leisurely drives to visit family and friends and occasionally making a stop on the way at the local ice cream shop.

Due to the current coronavirus restrictions, a private service for immediate family only will be held on Friday, July 10th at 1:00 at Baker Post Funeral Home in Manassas. The family will share a link provided by Baker Post so that you may watch the service on a live feed. The family does welcome you to join them at Stonewall Memory Gardens on the 10th at 2:00 for the committal service.
