Obituary for William John Ryan

Manassas, Virginia – William J. Ryan, 65, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on March 19, 2022, from complications of Kidney failure.

Bill was born in Upper Darby, PA to the late Oliver J. and Louise M. (Seiler) Ryan. Bill is survived by his former wife Mary LaMontagne Ryan, a daughter Elizabeth M (Chad) Jacobsen, of Warrenton, VA; his son Oliver John Ryan of Woodbridge, VA; and son Patrick James M (Carmen) Ryan, also of Woodbridge VA. Bill is also survived by two grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Bill is also survived by his two younger sisters: Kathleen M Domenick of Mount Laurel, NJ and Anne L. M (Matthew) Campanella of Swarthmore, PA.

Bill grew up in Claymont, Delaware and was in the Class of 1974 of Claymont High School. Following high school, he joined the US Army in 1976 and spent 1977-1980 in Augsburg, Germany ending up at Arlington Hall VA until 1982. During his tour in Germany Bill met and married his wife Mary LaMontagne, and his daughter Elizabeth was born.

During the 80s and 90’s Bill worked for several telecommunications firms in northern Virginia. TRT Telecommunications, World Com and Cable & Wireless Company of Arlington, VA.
Bill was an avid Philadelphia sports fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on April 7th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of All Saints Catholic Church, 9300 Stonewall Road, Manassas, Virginia. Afterwards friends and family are invited to gather at a nearby restaurant to share our favorite memories and light refreshments.

Burial will be in Quantico National Cemetery on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 11:30 a.m.
