Obituary for Justin Charles McWhirt

Justin Charles McWhirt
Justin Charles McWhirt passed away unexpectedly on April 26, 2023, at the age of 25. He was born on October 1, 1997—and came into their lives “just-in time” as his mother would say. He was the son of Jeff and Ann McWhirt, brother to Katie Gaffney (Dunseath), John Dunseath, Joey McWhirt, and brother-in-law to Laís McWhirt. He was an uncle to Sean Frank, Scarlett Gaffney, and Maeve Gaffney. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Caitlin Cottrell. His family is extraordinarily saddened by his death.

Justin was a kind and gentle soul and deeply loved by those who knew him. He loved the outdoors and was a friend to every animal he encountered. In his younger years he dreamed of being a zookeeper and convinced his parents to allow him to keep a variety of pets including a bunny, geckos, numerous fish, and several snakes. Some of his best days were spent fishing, hammock napping, or swimming in the lake on family camping vacations. Justin was a 2016 Osbourn High School graduate. He was most comfortable when listening to music.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at 11 a.m. followed by a service at 12 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home, located at 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, VA. A reception will immediately follow at Grace United Methodist Church located at 9750 Wellington Road, Manassas, VA.

The family would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support. To know Justin was to love him, and it is clear he touched the lives of many.
