Obituary for Raymond Ernest Suehr

Raymond Ernest Suehr
On Thursday, November 10, 2022, Raymond Ernest Suehr, a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away at 77 years old. Born to Harry Arthur Suehr and Dorothy Haberkern Suehr, Ray grew up in Pittsburgh, PA where he attended Canevin High School and graduated from Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. He was commissioned a Lieutenant in the Air Force in 1967 and served 9 years, including a tour in Vietnam. He married Eileen McLaughlin in 1968 and together they raised five children, Dennis, Terry, Kristen, Shaun and Jackie. Ray spent much of his career as a Contracting Officer for the Department of Agriculture, retiring in 2005. Ray can best be described as an avid doer. He never encountered a home or car project he could not tackle. He spent his time on woodworking, car maintenance, and lawn care, always taking pride in the ability to do it himself. His other hobbies included running, making inappropriate jokes, and embarrassing his children at every chance he got. In retirement, he and Eileen enjoyed traveling and visiting with their children and 12 grandchildren, Isabel, Daisy, Audrey, George, Charlie, Abby, Ben, Jack, Lucy, Luke, Riley and Henry. After 34 years living in Herndon, Ray and Eileen moved to Heritage Hunt in Gainesville, VA. Ray’s strong faith, energy, wit, and kind heart will be missed by all who loved him.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville, VA at 1:30pm on Saturday, November 19. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or Little Sisters of the Poor.
