Obituary for Adelheid Hedwig "Heidi" Bates (Schroeder)

Adelheid Hedwig "Heidi" Bates (Schroeder)
Adelheid Hedwig Bates (Schroeder) was born on June 7, 1942, and died on January 27, 2021. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen Robinson. They would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on October 31, 2021.

Heidi is also survived by her son, Kai Bates, who just moved to Berlin, Germany; and by her 4 step-children, Emily Robinson Williams of Clifton, VA; Lisa Robinson Gregg of Winter Park, FL; Lianne Robinson Picente of Clifton, VA; and Jeffrey Robinson of Waltham, MA. Heidi and Stephen have seven grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jaina, Andrew, Evie, Bennett, Caleb, & Autumn. Autumn, born just a couple of months ago, has been a particular delight to them during Heidi's illness.

Heidi’s career, spanning nearly 60 years, included many executive assistant positions working directly for many CEO’s who were considered to be difficult to work for. She had the rare ability to ‘tame’ them and turn them into more effective executives and human beings.

Heidi was an incredibly generous person, always thinking of the needs of those around her and doing all she could to fulfill those needs. She always seemed to be a magnet around people who would surround her and want to be in her company. Heidi was a ‘hugger’ and those around her seemed to thrive on those hugs and love her.

A private celebration of Heidi’s life will be held at the Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Ronald G. Qualley officiating.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, or to www.stjude.org.
