Bridget and I

I am so very sorry that I just learned of Bridget's passing back in April.  It must have been during our lock-down phase, and it was only today that I read her name on the "In Memoriam' roster at All Saints.  My heartfelt condolences, even at this late date, to  her husband and all her family, especially Maria, Andy and Krista whom I knew so many years ago.

I met Bridget through the CCD program at All Saints where both of us taught Religion for a number of years.  She was such an inspiration to me and so fully alive as a Catholic.  She truly lived her faith in a most tangible way and just exuded the joy of that faith.

She certainly had the gift of healing.  I was scheduled to have a tumor removed from my ovary and was in line for confession a day before the surgergy.  She passed by and I whispered: "Please pray for me" and told her about my tumor.  She said to me: "It's on your left side, isn't i?"  Totally surprised, I said: 'Yes".  She then prayed over me and told me not to worry, that the tumor would be gone.  I had to see the doctor before my surgery the next day, and he could not find it.  It was gone, just as Bridgit had told me.  An ultrasound was done and confirmed the good news--no surgery needed.  What a blessing for me and what a great gift that God had given Bridget!

A few years later when my husband passed away of cancer at age 49, she was a great comfort to me and uplifted me with her love and prayers.  She had prayed over my husband at the hospital and I know that those prayers helped guide him into the next life.

During the next few years our paths crossed a number of times.  We would meet at the March for Life and catch up on our families off and on.  Since I taught at Seton School for many years and used to take student groups to Europe, I got to know Krista and take both her and Bridget on a trip to Europe with me. She was so much fun to have along and I know that Krista enjoyed having her nana on the trip.  Of course, I met Maria and Andy through 'plumbing' issues at my house.  They were always gracious and so accommodating.

I know that she was greatly loved by family and friends and is missed by everyone, but her memory lives on in all our heart.  We know that she has 'fought the good fight, has run the race  and that a crown of glory awaits her'.  May she rest in Peace.
